Kataragama Temple (a.k.a Dewalaya) is a temple complex dedicated to Buddhist
guardian deity Kataragama deviyo and Hindu War God Murugan.It is one of the few
religious sites in Sri Lanka that is venerated by the Buddhists,Hindus,Muslims and the
Vedda people too.

It used to be a jungle location that was difficult to reach,but today an all-weather road
connects it to the outside world. Buddhists are in charge of the deity,Hindus of the
shrines, and Muslims of the mosque.It is a one-of-a-kind place to visit and learn about
the historical significance.
